Third Unique Feature:
The term PolyWave refers to this third capacity; this topology can use different alternating current formats for non‐sinusoidal wave‐form inputs for single, two and three phase motors.
Hence two phase motors are possible with very simple control. These currents can be readily produced from Direct Current primary sources. Two phase currents can be generated or re‐generated too, rectified and addedtogether to make DC again. This has many applications on mobile platforms, reducing conversion losses and cost.
Mass saving for very large motors and generators
PolyWave Generators can be used in large light weight Direct Drive Wind Turbines to produce high quality DC without the use of permanent magnets. Use of an adjustable field on a wind turbine will improve the operationof the turbine under variable winds, providing a constant voltage output. Very simple rectification to pure DC.
Without a gearbox or powerful permanent magnets, the wind turbine is easier to maintain and less costly tobuild. The unique topology of the generator will make it lighter to make as well. Drag‐based turbine blades are now possible in the 30 MW class on shorter off‐shore floating structures.
