Staying close to Unity PF
Table1 shows typical Power Factor (PF) performances as experienced in twenty selected industries. The
PWP motor can keep it’s PF close to Unity under all load conditions as shown by the V‐curves graph below.
Cost saving to Customer
A low PF affects not only the high cost paid for electricity at the Plant but also Grid generation, Grid stability and the capital cost and maintenance of additional Plant to correct poor PF performance.
Banks of Capacitors are sometimes used and in the worst cases, large spinning Synchronous Condensers
are used to correct the lagging power factor by using a leading Field Current.
Increasing loss of Reactive Power
Reactive power losses occur world‐wide produced by inductive load from induction motors, vehicle
charging and inductive heating.
PWP Motors are able to correct this problem
PolyWavePower motors can perform these PF corrections automatically whilst under continuous
synchronous operation.
This simple intervention lowers the Grid cost of electricity and immediately restores lost grid capacity without having to actually apply for any new grid Capacity – a win‐win situation for all!
